sudden big problems with PC

suddenly the pc started with "bad bios checksum" so I loaded default and off we go. stops at "windows did not load properly" so I press any key and by pressing pause break key I see many lines with this as an example:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\ntoskrn.exe

I then get a BSOD with an "IRQ not less or equal" and then a reboot
is this a completely screwed windows or a hardware conflict that didnt exist before?

system:
Asus A8R32-MVP
AMD opty 146
2gb RAM (corsair I think)
Nvidia 7800GT
WinXP media edition.

thanks for looking.

now decided to reinstall winxp mce. removed wireless network card and sound card and still getting BSOD. If I attempt to install on either of the hdd's I still get a BSOD.
which leaves the cpu the video card and the RAM. can any of these 3 cause IRQ conflicts?

It sounds like dodgy ram. Try booting with one stick at a time.
I removed 1 stick and it booted fine. Replaced the known good stick with the dodgy one...no boot, just errors. Ran with both in dual mode...no boot, so it must be that 1 stick has gone phut.
will try memtest with usb floppy just to make sure before requesting RMA.

cheers

Maybe Nacho just likes fire ;)

Do you need more then 512mb RAM for a HTPC? See how it runs with just the one stick.

yes it boots fine with just the 1 stick, its just when both are in that it dies. Ive previously used this RAM pair in another system (same mobo and cpu) and they performed OK
