Suddenly can't monitor HDDs...

Recently done a few things to my computer:

Installed another 2GB RAM
Put in a SATA DVD±RW
Installed Vista 64

Now, since then I can't monitor my HDDs (both WD Caviars, SATA2). I've tried DTemp and SpeedFan - neither are detecting the S.M.A.R.T. info.

At first I just thought it was a Vista quirk, bur a friend of mine has a similar setup and is not getting these issues.

I've tried turning S.M.A.R.T. on in the BIOS but this has no influence.

Any ideas?

I don't think it's a S.M.A.R.T. thing as I'm getting the temp readings on both my drives (160GB+500GB SATA spinpoints), but only appear to have S.M.A.R.T. enabled on the secondary disk.

Worth noting we have similar motherboards.

Its Vista 64, 32 doesnt have theses issues I think. Best thing is to try the 32-bit edition together with speedfan. I doubt your getting the drive temperature, double check otherwise there is no reason for the rest of the SMART values not to show up.
