Suddenly getting strange system locks

Right, my system has been running incredibly smoothe up until recently, and I am unsure what could be causing it.

Basically, Ill be sitting happily playing WoW, and it will freeze. I can close the game using Alt-F$ no problem, but Ctrl-Alt-Del or using any Windows function afterwards hard locks the system. Because of this im unsure as to whether it could be my graphics card playing up, or something wrong with my Windows.

Currently using Vista Ultimate 64, and a 4870X2 using 8.12 Cats.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you run a virus scan?

Can you close the game by coming out of it throught the menus instead of alt+f4?

Blow the dust out your fans/Heatsinks/case it sounds like you have dust build up leading to over heating.

Does it happen in other games or just in WoW?

Virus scan doesnt pick up anything. And the game actually freezes, so the only way I can close it is by alt-f4, or right clicking it on the taskbar and closing it there.

Anyway, cleaned out all my fans and reseated every component. Lets see how it goes

Reseated every component and cleaned out every speck of dust. Quite happily played Crysis on close to full settings for a while, but within 30 minutes of loading up WoW, it locks up

Looks like my system is trying to tell me to stop playing WoW then.
