Ive had an Oculus Quest 2 for a while and although I’ve enjoyed some of the games using it standalone(beatsabre, climb etc), they are a bit gimmicky and short lasting. I’d like to see what it is like playing a proper game connected up to my PC, but not sure what to go for. I guess an FPS or similar would be fun?

What would your recommendations be?

HL Alyx.

Clear your Monday evenings and join the hangout crew.

Never had more fun gaming than doing it in a group VR. Even basic things like Rec Room can be brilliant.

Currently Township Tale is taking up a huge amount of time for several of us. MMO. Free on PC too. Perhaps not all the pretties you want though.

there are so many it really depends on your genre of choice.. for £8 lone echo should be in everyones library. Elite dangerous horizons is an epic experience in VR (elite Odyssey less so, for now i would not bother with that).

Games like falloutVR or skyrim VR are worth a look if your bag - look for mods to tart them up - and then the other stuff already listed.

pinball is brilliant in VR and there are some free tables, but pinball FV2 VR is worth the money.

what’s the hangout crew?! My son was playing rec room the other day, but I’ve got no idea what it is! An MMO would be fun, not done that since I had to ban myself from WoW!

Lone Echo - currently on sale on the Oculus store.

I feel like I’ve been missing out! I got the Oculus because it sounded cool, but I’ve not really used it. Going to get on it now though, cheers guys

Stupid question, but do all the games use the oculus controllers? Or do you use an Xbox controller? Can’t imagine a keyboard would work?

All native games will use the Oculus controllers, as every headset comes with them. I think some also support a bluetooth gamepad. On PC it varies, some games are gamepad only, others will have Oculus controller support.

Group of us (quite a few now!) meet every Monday evening at about 8pm. We decide what to play depending on numbers. 4 of us at first started on Star trek bridge crew, then we moved to rec room, now it seems most have Township Tale.

You're more than welcome to join us, the more the merrier.

Rec room is a simple graphics play space I guess. People can create their own games, and there are some pre-made ones. There are some quests, running around with swords and bow/arrows, or laser rifles. There's laser tag, paintball, a rec royale type thing too. It's nice because it works well natively on the quest 2 headset, but has crossplay with PCVR. With all the different options, there's usually something to suit the number of players.

Township tale is basic and still getting upgrades (mostly on quest version now, trying to bring it inline with PC version), but lots of fun, if a little poorly explained at first. PCVR version is free.
