Suggest Me An RPG...

Hi, currently playing through FF9 on the PS2, just wondering if anyone can suggest for me some good RPG games that are similar to this, and also FF7/8, getting bored of regular games and these are all I can get into at the moment, consoles I have access to currently:

PS2
Dreamcast
PSP
DS

I wonder how much you would have to pay for a second hand Xbox (original) these days? Because Fable and Knights of the old Republic are two of my favorite RPGs :)

I can imagine that you could possibly buy these quite cheap on your favorite online auction site.

Skies of Arcadia - Dreamcast (Wish i still had my DC to play this) my fav game for the DC

PS2-

Grandia 2 and 3
Final Fantasy XII
Suikoden 3
Dragon quest VIII
Shadowhearts covenant
Shin Megami Tensei games (Digital Devil Saga)


PS2 - FF X-2 is worth a look, although i couldnt get along with the battle system.Bit too girly as well.

No really, they're quite fun little RPGs, and pretty taxing if you get into the online battling side of things.
 
There is also a great RPG called Tales of Symphonia which was released on the Gamecube.There is also a PS2 version, but it was only released in Japan.
 
^ Tales is ace. Cheesy as anything, but the gameplay is brilliant enough to make up for it, and it kind of grows on you after a while.
 
Skies of arcadia is an excellent RPG for the DC like someone else reccomended! One of my all time favourites.

Any of the Breath of Fire games are worth a look quite old skool but have aged well and definitely worth a look. PS1 and PS2 if memory serves. Can be quite difficult later on and some of the bosses are very tough!

If you can find a copy then Suikoden 4 on the PS2 is awesome and if you can find a copy and dont mind the price then suikoden 1 and 2 on the PS1 are amazing. Talking £50-80 each for those 2 tho >.<

If you like final fantasy then you NEED to play the original FF Tactics. Dont think it was a PAL release tho so you might need an imported console. But it is one of THE best RPG's ever released IMO. Think you can now get this for the GBA or DS but not sure as i dont own either and im not sure if its the original.

Edit: After looking through my pile of old RPG's you should check out Vagrent Story and Granstream Saga on the PS. Also Xenosaga 1,2 and 3 for PS2 but again i dont think they were all released in PAL format and Xenogears which it follows on from definitely wasnt.

Damn it now i have a list of at least 7 RPG's i need to reply now!!:(
 
This thread makes me want my old consoles back.I sold my PS2, DC and gamecube on the bay because i was skint :( along with all my fav RPG's

The DS one isn't. It's an entirely different game with similarly styled gameplay to the original. I also thought it was pretty rubbish, so it must be fairly different from the original considering how many people love that one up.

However, you can buy the original FF:T for the PSP now, complete with remade FMVs.

I use the bay for buying everyones old RPG's :D

Dont think i could ever part with some of them and by the time i did part with the rest no one will remeber what a PS1 is let alone have one to play them on!
