I currently use my desktop PC (Q6600, Abit IP35 Pro) more as a server - I run Sabnzbd, Sickbeard, CouchPotato and Plex and stream my media to Apple TV/PS3 etc. At night I use it for downloads etc.
I am running 4 x 500gb drives in RAID 5, 1 750gb outside of the array for OS and non-critical stuff. Additionally I have a 1tb drive plugged in to an icybox dock which I use for backing up Pictures, Music etc, the rest of my docs are on Skydrive.
I'm trying to decide whether to get a small NAS device to store my files on or build a small server that can run SAb, Sickbeard, Plex etc and just bang it full of drives. I'm interested to here what you guys use and if you have any suggestions.
I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as possible.
