i have currently been using vista 32 bit since release date.
i have just bought a oem copy of vista 64 bit for the future, but not sure if i should change to a 64 bit operating system yet?. what are the drivers like for 64 bit nowadays as i remember them being rubbish when 64 bit was first released. what is the performance like compared to 32 bit any improvements.

seems a bit strange buying it then wondering if to use it or not
Maybe you could dual boot !
Unless your going to be increasing your memory I doubt you will notice any difference .

nothing strange in it, most processors are 64 bit Architecture and seems silly not to use to its full potential. and eventually will be defitenly changing to 64 bit just wanted opions on whether its worth the change yet

No. Most people will tell you "they run it without problems". None of them will actually show you any real advantages unless you have progs that use more than 4Gb of memory. The truth is - 99.9% of code in your everyday use is still the same sloppy, unoptimized 32bit. After so many years you will be pressed hard to find a program that actually use multi processing and all the extensions, let alone 64bit instructions and addressing. At the moment, a year on since Vista was given to developers it's still a choice of mostly running unoptimzed 32bit code on 32bit CPU with quick driver fixes or run unoptimized 32bit code in 32bit emu on 64bit CPU with slow, signed drivers.

I understand what you have written :) But if you had posted what you did without having bought the 64bit flavour then it would make more sense to some people. Having already bought it you would be better informed using your PC the way that you do and then try out the 64bit OS. As we can all have different needs and expectations it would be difficult for someone to advise you precisely how much better one will be above the other.

IMO 64bit Windows might start to be better supported natively in the next flavour of the OS. Although if that OS is also sold in a 32bit format then, I imagine, that could be the one that has the largest user base. Then again as there will already be a huge 32bit base then I suppose it will represent the majority of users.
