Suggestions, please.

3000GT was one of my childhood dream cars...absolutely love them, even if they weigh a ton and drink fuel like theres no tommorrow.

Found on autotrader:

2000 W Reg MERCEDES-BENZ CLK 230K Avantgarde, Manual

Price:
£5,000

I like the look of these, repair costs could be way too high.

Edit - actually looking at original brief, maybe not suitable, as perhaps not enough of a laugh.

That's about as entertaining to drive as a cardboard box! Don't think it fits the bill :p And then, as you say, there's Merc labour costs! Parts from them alternate between suprisingly cheap and the ridiculous, depending on what it is, however.

RiPz - Suggestion - Grow a pair :p

(only joking)

OK, i guess its a GT-Four then, thanks for the suggestions.. but i guess my heart really is set on one =o

GT-Fours arent exactly easy to come by in the condition i'll be wanteing, for example the one i've already mentioned in this thread is a 500 mile round trip to view. What's the best way to go about doing this - i'd rahter not travel so far to a car just to find it's crap.

I seem to remember a couple of people on the forums going to look at cars for people to give a preliminary yes/no.. anyone willing to do this for petrol & lunch ?

If that's not an option - is getting a train & taking enough money to buy the car if it's decent the best/cheapest way to do it ? then if you do buy the car dayinsure it to get it home ?

Just wondering, looking at your choice of cars, have you considered the (rising) fuel costs to run it each week? Will you afford to run and service it? I considered buying another sports car in the near future but I've persuaded myself not too for now considering how much it will cost to fill the tank every week.

It will also be his everyday run-around to, so the miles will soon rack up, especially in the first few months :D

Copycat ;)

I'm looking at getting a GT-Four for exactly the same money as you, but it's cheaper for me to insure :)

you were on about getting a saxo VTR 2 weeks ago, you indecisive bugger

i've been after a gt-four for about a year :P

Aye, thought it'd be the simplest option...but then I realised I could insure certain cars that I didn't expect. GT Four being one of them :)
