I've today upgraded from a Samsung SM226BW to the Iiyama Prolite E2710 and definitely think you'll regret moving up to just 24".

The Iiyama is 1920x1080 though so it depends if you want to stay at a 16:10 ratio or are happy moving to 16:9. This monitor I can't fault - I would have gone for the B2712 but had a tiny bit of concern as to how much weight my desk can take.

The HP monitor in your above post is very good but if you're not doing any imaging work it might be overkill. Depends if you're explicitly against getting a TN panel but even then if you're certain you only want a 24" model, the ZR24W might be worth waiting for.

What I really want is to play COD MW2 and watch blu-ray moves and say 'wow' ! - i know its a bit too ask ! - and no not bothered about TN panels etc, 24" was a minimum

Might be worth waiting for the Acer GD245HQ which is due by the end of the month.
1920x1080 rather than 1920x1200 but most panels will be from now on.
120Hz for a smoother image
Support for 3D if that interests you

Only downside is its a TN panel but its not that bad really.
