I might be building a sff conroe rig for music production so the main goals are that it has to be as quite as possible.

Just wondering what psu and hsf combo would give me the lowest noise and will fit ok.

PSU i'm not sure about. Different people recommend different PSUs on their noise level - it really depends on what you define "quiet" to be i guess!

To go in a Sugo i'd recommend the Zalman CNPS8000 Ultra Quiet Low Profile CPU Cooler, as it's pretty much certain to fit due to it's size. Depending on the motherboard, some modding may be required to get a 120mm cooler into the case (ask Yewen for more details on this), however the one above is based on a 92mm fan, giving good cooling in a small size. I'm not sure about how loud it's going to be, I would expect it to be more than adequate for your needs though.

:)

I'm very happy with my Seasonic 430W in my Lian Li V300 - nice and short (hardly longer than a 120mm fan), stable rails and i've never heard it. Some say it's silent (quieter then a 120mm amber at 7v and possibly 5v i believe).

The Zalman CNPS7000 and 8000 series have always been popular and are very similar to the Thermaltake Blue Orb II which is also good. I think the best is supposed to be the Silver stone NT03 but it is a little more pricy. What ever you choose should be fine as conroe doesnt kick out all that much heat.

What other things are you putting inside?

Thanks for the suggestions, for the psu the Seasonic seems to get mentioned a lot for quiteness so think ill go for that. For hsf I'll have a look at the blue orb and zalman.

Nothing fancy, I will just use the onboard video of the asrock mb, 2 gig ram, big hd, dvd/rw and M-audio delta 1010lt sound card.

I'd get a Tagan easy con - to my ears they're silent and the modular cables will help with wire management. I'd get a Zalman CNPS8000 on the cpu - I have a 7000 and it's served me very well. It's silent in auto fan speed mode and cools exceptionally well in my little Aria with low airflow.

im using a Enermax Liberty 500W and a Thermaltake Blue Orb II in my sugo-e
runs nice and quiet, just replacing my 2 x 80mms atm, thinking of buying

2 x Coolink SWiF-801 80mm

- Dimensions: 80 x 80 x 25mm
- 12v: 21.1 CFM, 11.0 dB(A), 1500 RPM
- 7.5v: 12.8 CFM, 9.0 dB(A), 800 RPM
- 2-Ball Bearing

hope they run quiet :)

im using a AMD x2 4400+ temps are at

idle: = 32 to 35
load = 38 to 42 ( never seen the load go past 42 yet )

my cpu is close to the side of the csse so ive had to file down 2mm from the side of a
Thermaltake Blue Orb II. so not much modding to it really

good luck

the noisest things i find in my sugo are the case fans :(

they're all 60mm and 80 mm (i believe), and i've replaced them all with akasa ambers, and rigged it to a fan/temp controller thing that they have, but they are all I hear :(

thinking of chucking all away, and going back to my reserator, which i see that zalman have brought out a pretty low profile cpu block for:
Zalman ZM-WB4 Gold Water Cooling CPU Block (WC-006-ZA)

but yeah, i think thats the worst thing about a sugo, no space to put a nice big 120 mm case fan anywhere.

I run one 5v fan only, over the hard drives and have a Blue Orb II in the case, sticks out the side a bit but the rig bar HDD seak during a defrag is silent, very pleased with it. :)

iam running my sugo E the now with no fans
waiting on a fan controller

i use a zalman 7000cu
2x western digital 400gb with no fan
they dont go over 48 at full load
