I'm planning to build a new Core Duo PC around a Silverstone Sugo and was hoping someone would be able to confirm whether or not the stock CPU cooler would fit or not?

Silverstone quote a maximum height of 78mm but I can't find details of the cooler that comes with the Intel retail packages.

Many thanks.

i cant say for sure but i know the amd x2 4400-939 stock cooler fits
but im sure some 1 on here will tell you.

what core duo chip are you going for?

Was planning on the Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail

Would have got the OEM and a separate cooler but out of stock :(

I'm almost certain it will. The stock coolers aren't all that high. I'd invest in a Zalman CNPS8000 anyway:).

Stock cooler will defo fit, tho id get a better cooler if your gonna o/c.
Zalman CNPS8000 is a great cooler as is the Zalman CNPS7000B-CU Ultra-Quiet which im currently using.
Cpu idles at 35-37c

The Silverstone NT-06 Lite is Silverstone's own cooler made pretty much specifically for the Sugo. You really can't beat it for silence as it uses the PSU fan for it cooling draft, and it's gorgeous :p

I use the CNPS8000 for my Sugo, and I get 35-40C idle, and 45-50C load. Not bad considering my room gets pretty hot.

i use a blue orb in my sugo but i had to mod it abit
i had to file of 2mm so i could put my case cover back on.
it all depends on where the cpu sits really.

im very happy with it tho

How quiet is it though ? I listened to a sample off quietpc and compared it with my alpine 7 - in comparision the cnps8000 sounds like a rocket !

@Tosk : nice 1.

Think I am fairly happy with the alpine7 letting it spin at 1700 and letting CPU temps approach 50.

Getting things quiet is my priority at the moment.

It's always going to sound louder though, as you're hardly going to put the Sugo under your desk are you?

It's sat next to me, and I honestly can't hear the CPU fan. It comes with a variable fan speed control though, and make sure you use it, otherwise it defaults to maximum speed, and starts whipping up a tornado! :D

@Tute : I don't put pcs on my desk and try not to have them in the room where I work. Video/mouse/sound/usb are all extended via cat6.

The sugo can sit on the floor with my shuttle.

Yes silencing the CPU fan is the easy bit but what about the PSU ? What PSU do you recommend thats gonna be silent without the burden of high costs.

My Seasonic PSU is effectively silent. I have one in a passively cooled PC, the PSU is the only fan and I can't hear it at all.
