Suits....

Sort of off topic, but unless you are working in the city or feel the need to pose for 'boys club' then nobody cares about the difference between a really well cut suit and one which looks ok / good (it's hard to look bad in a suit). Yes - I am in a client facing role.

So as long as it's not in the objectively awful category, you'll be fine. There is no need to spend ££££££.

Oh really! It saves an incredible amount of money on dry cleaning and you avoid the hassle of taking it to the dry cleaners every week.

But you wear a cheap and inferior suit. Quality suits should be dry cleaned due to the material. You don't need to wash them after every time you wear them plus dry cleaning costs around £12 for 4 items. Hardly breaks the bank.

No one should have to dry clean a suit every week. If it's a proper wool suit, taking if off and hanging it up to dry out after work should be sufficient.

I have had washable suit trousers in poly/cotton blends and more expensive standard wool trousers. Even after several weeks of wear without washing, the latter always feel much better. Dry cleaning shouldn't be needed very often.

My advice to OP would be to go to somewhere like T M Lewin. Remember to buy two pairs of the same trousers because they eventually wear out faster. Even then it should last years. Also get trousers dry cleaned at same time as jacket to keep the colour consistent.

Charcoal grey is most versatile. Ideally also get one medium grey or navy so you can rotate. It will cost £££ initially but will last years and you will look the part.

I'd also try SuitSupply's Blue Line suits - a charcoal grey Napoli for £260 is both great value and will never go out of style.

Unless you live near London you'll need to buy it and return it if it doesn't fit, but there's free shipping and returns, so it's not the end of the world.
