Well the plot thickens ha. Got home. Took the under tray off so I could put cardboard under over night, and immediately I could see it wasn't fixed. Fresh pool of oil on it,and it's now dripping even faster.
I have had a helicoil on two previous cars' sumps over the years with aluminium sumps. One was done by the dealer and the other a back-street engineering place who said they would put the old oil back in but I was worried about dirt dropping in it so gave them new oil and that was OK. About £60 IIRC.

I thought about that but the pan on mine is steel. Is it still doable? I've also since for D out I'm looking at £150 for a new sump and sealant so I'm not sure which option to go with..
