My arms and face got burnt today and it hurts like a mofo:(

Now ive had sunburn heaps of times in the past and used all sorts of methods to stop the pain and to make it stop burning and radiating heat.

But since we are in different countrys we might have different ideas and ways to stop the burn.

Im also guessing some of you have gone to a hot climate and burnt a sausage on a BBQ:p

So what do you do?:)

Edit: Pictures coming soon

After sun? It's all I've ever used. Also feels better putting it in if you leave it in the fridge :)

To late know, But I find an ice cold shower for about 30mins as soon as you get in. Helps it out. Then just slap some aftersun on.

Eat a lot of tomatoes or tomato puree. It's been shown that eating tomatoes increases the level of melanin in the skin, protecting from sunburn.

Aloe gel stuff. Keep it in the fridge between applications and it feels better.

Ive been told by quite a few people down here including mum, (who liked to sun bake coverd in baby lotion and cooking oil on her skin as a kid:p) that the a Hot shower is ment to take out the sting if you get burnt.

IMO it helps a little and stops the radiating heat but it still not the be all and end all answer:(

hot shower sod that. It's just like any other burn. keep it cold.

I remember in Bulgaria, it was the middle of the day and I decided to go have a drink of Vodka on the beach with my cousins' girlfriend, after a game of football. We only planned to have one or two, but the sun made us thirsty and, well, we both got pretty trashed. (Stupid).

So I decided to stop drinking and 'lie it off' while the girl in question went back to be with the family. But I fell asleep, and woke up 3 hours later with massive burns and skin loss on my chest. It was drooling yellow, white and green. It was absolutely disgusting and extremely painful. I suppose the effects were like meat in a frying pan, and I was the meat.

I then found my mother and she was horrified, followed by everyone else. I spent the next two days in bed, puking black gunge and going in and out of consciousness. Heat stroke I guess.

Anyway, my cousin told me that yoghurt is a great thing to put on burns and his girlfriend seemed to agree with him. So I told him to go fetch one for me and I'd rub it in. He came back with one, I rubbed it in and OUCHHHHH. That was just so extremely stingy and nasty.

So yeh, don't use yoghurt. haha. All I did was just wait for it to heal, it took about 2 months in all, but I'm guessing my case was a lot more extreme than yours, so I'm no help really.

One thing that has helped another time, was when I was in Thailand and I got burnt on my shoulders. I got an extremely sexy Thai friend to gently rub and massage my shoulders with oil, in the bath. I dunno whether it helped the burn, but it felt damn good! :p

Its not as bad as yours OvertoneBliss but its enough to hurt and make me hate the sun :p

Its not the worst ive had by a long shot, that would have been when i got burnt on the nose one day, then again the next and then again a 3rd day. By the end of it i has really thick chunks of skin peeling off my nose and it would start to bleed :(
That bloody hurt that did!:p

Thats what I do - start cool and then increase the heat a bit at a time. Also plenty of aftersun with aloe in it. The hot shower may not actually help the healing but it helps with the pain.

Korres Aloe Vera After Sun is very good, especially if you have sensitive skin. I have heard some people say they find that The Banana Boat Company Aloe Vera Gel is good and swear by it. It was too harsh for my skin though and made it worse.
