I've been wanting to try this recipe since somebody linked to it in a thread in here a few months ago.

I popped into one of our excellent local butchers (we're spolit for choice for butchers and farm shops round home IMHO) and picked up a half shoulder of lamb (blade side). It's in the oven at moment - going into the kitchen is torture as it smells lovely.

It's hardly salad weather (what the recipe suggests as the side), so I'm going to do some roasted veg to go with it. Parnsips and carrots from the market yesterday and anything else I can find in the veg basket (I think there are some shallots in there to use up).

Roll on 8 o'clock! :D

I've been wanting to make this since I saw that link in a thread too. Need to find a roasting tin that I can use though. Every time I go to the shops I look but never seem to see anything suitable.

Looking forward to hearing how yours turns out.

Probably my three, it's an awesome recipe and the pores we droole inducing.
However I did it with a leg off mutton.

You won't be disappointed.

Well the veggies are in - lamb looks (and smells) awesome, maybe a bit more liquid to get rid off in the potatoes.

Result : utterly superb

Found an lonely looking sweet potatoe in the veggie box, so bunged that in with the veggies. The potatoes were amazing, the garlic (home grown) just fell apart. Some lovely crisp bits of lamb on the outside, inside was tender to perfection.

Plenty of lamb left, so we'll be having lamb curry later in the week :D

Highly recommended.

What kind of oven dish are you guys using? is it one that comes with its own stand?

Any recommendations?

Going to try use standard grill pan, if leg is to big to sit on grill , I'm just going to layer potatoes in the bottom of pan then lay the lamb shoulder about it direct on oven shelf can't see a reason why it won't work.

Hope that helps

Only thing I would change is out about half of the said stock in. I had to pour some out mid cooking and use for gravy apart from that is was superb.

Thanks to OP for sharing

That looks stunning. I also had to pour a fair amount of stock off when I did it.

This really is a must recipe for everyone to try,
