As you can see, i got some shots but the majority are faily dissapointing. Its a tricky thing, fast moving vehicles, lots of people in the way, 2 sets of barriers, lamp posts, signs and all manner of crap in the way but i got some so i'm happy!! :)

Bit of a techy question...I noticed a lot of the people are repeated rather than a continuous blur. Is that down to the 50hz electricity supply of the streetlamps? Never seen the effect before, then again I've never seen panning in the dark before. Good effort considering the circumstances.

Right...the techy bit!

I was using a Nikon D200, Sigma EX 24-70 F2.8 lens and Nikon SB800 flash.

ISO 1250/1600/3200 depending on shot
Shutter speed 1/20th - 1/40th depending on shot
Aperature - F2.8
Exposure - Manual Mode
Flash - Rear curtain sync, TTL mode.
Continous AF and Centre weighted metering.

EDIT: Looking at the pics maybe i should have used front curtain sync instead...ho hum?

Some action from stage 32 this morning - excellent stuff, really exciting even tho 5 cars did crash into the post i was standing next to (started track side of it, ended up 3 ft in after those crashes!! - as seen in pic 4)

All shots are straight out the camera, shot in JPG (i know, i couldnt handle processing that many raw files!) with no post processing at all.

Now i'm off to catch some more action...

Liking your shots and my god your brave stood there!! Maybe increase shutter speed to 1/250th perhaps to sharpen images a little?

Shutter speeds need to be 1/125th or 1/160th to keep the feel of action, altho i will try some different settings next time i go to a rally.

Went out to several stages across the area this afternoon and got some good close action - sadly they are so spread out with £20 parking @ each stage i didnt go to as many as i'd of liked.

More pics to follow - just downloading now :D
