Hi, built a new i7 system from ocuk and wanted to test out supreme commander on it, however everytime I try to run gpg net and the update, it always fails... I'm running windows 7 64 bit, anyone know fo any fixes? Did a quick search and couldn't see anything on the forums or google about it.

Thanks

I get the same if i try to auto-patch mine, I solved it by manually downloading the patches. There is a sticky on the game's forum (aren't sure I can link to that or not on here!) which lists all the patches including mirrors for both SupCom and Forged Alliance. Hope this helps ;)

If its the straight from dvd version then there is a problem with the first couple of patches not updating. Known fault.

Thanks ill try manually updating, also... is forged alliance worth getting?

For a couple of reasons I say yes, there are far more people on the multiplayer side of life online and the game runs better; particuarly late on in games.

The Seraphim units provide some interesting challenges too :D

Forged Alliance is a must by. The original was good, Forged Alliance fixed loads of things to make it even better :D

Good Good, just ordered it...

Having some other problems now with windows 7, I installed the core optimiser and the 3gb enabler... but in 3v3 games it still just crashes about an hour into it. What I gather is that I don't have to do the bcdedit stuff and just run the 3gb enabler, isthis right?

Any ideas?

I also hear that forged alliance fixes the 3gb problem?

Thanks

I thought the 3gig issue was only on 32bit operating systems? Please tell me your running win7 64bit on the rig in your sig!

Yes yes its 64bit, sorry should have said. Errrr I think you still need the 3gb enabler, in the read me it mentions 64 bit systems and gives instructions for them so i assume so.

Go into the installation folder for GPG.net. Right click 'Check Update.exe' and select run as administrator.

It'll update okay then but once GPG.net has updated you'll need to close it and do the same again to update Sup Com.

Downloading the updates manually from the gpg forums worked... thanks anyway, just trying to sort out the crashing now. It definatly is when it gets close to using 2gb of ram that it crashes. I don't understand why the 3gb enabler didn't work...
