Super Efficient Motor

This seems to be lots of peoples excuse for a new car, when you point out that spending several ££££ to gain 10mpg they look at you and go oh right, erm well I wanted a new car anyway so it doesnt matter.

PJR - Purchase Justification Reflex. A human emotion almost as strong as jealously!

The first one has stupid wheels and stick-on interior tat so I'd avoid it on that basis, it's probably been owned by some chav who doesn't know or care how to look after a car. I don't care if that's a stereotype, it's true more often than not.

Re the second one, it's quite feasible that it's a genuine mileage but it's quite low, meaning it'll probably have been used for lots of short journeys which isn't really what you want. But it still could be a good bet. Ignore the mileage, focus on the condition.

Petrol engine that does this is quite efficient, but they need an electric motor and a gay name to be drive-able:

With 8k to spend I would spend 1k on a VAG diesel and then "*****" the rest on enhancements for the Mrs. Win / Win

Agree - my banger is the grubbiest one I have seen about but it does 60+MPG and doesn't smell like old socks.

Obv the Ford Fanboys will recommend something "better"... how about a cossie?!
