To cut the story short i'm having to replace my PSU as it fritzed and i'm on a borrowed one now and my HD which was chugging noisely has died so again thats being replaced.

I Also need some v low DB fans as my housemates being a bit of a git and complaining about the fan noise at night.(low whirr and the walls are super thin)

Anything below 10DB would be ideal and also any ideas on quiet fan setups for an 800D would help too

Unless a fan has some stupid blade or bearing design which generates excessive noise there's not much in the type of fan you choose.

speed = airflow = noise

So you will lose airflow but it's not likely to be anywhere near overheating.

You can use any reasonable speed of fan and then lower it til its quiet enough for you.

Can use motherboard speed controls, separate hardware speed controllers or software to control the fan speed.

I have 5 enermax magmas at about 1100-1200rpm in my case all speed controlled by the motherboard

I believe my main problem is the 3 enermax magmas i have venting out on top they do make a fair bit of noise blowing the air through the vents

apaches are whisper quiet, as too are Thermalrights TY-140's, I've had both in my computers at some point and they literally make no noise.

Sythe GT 1150 have the best static pressure of all these type of fans while remaining silent. Truly great fans!!!!

8 Pack - why do the values of static pressure differ so much on fans? The Apaches say 26.40 mm-H2O where as most are between 1-3. True figures? Or [marketed] fudge factors?
