It is out tomorrow in Japan, with a few lucky guys getting their import copies tomorrow. It looks such a good game, the graphics are phenomenal. I'm very surprised nobody seems to be talking about Galaxy, or hinting interest in it. I only found out about the release dates just now, and it's a helluva lot closer than I thought :eek: two weeks from now in Europe basically !

Surely some of you are hyped for what is by Nintendo's admission the first true sequel to Mario 64?

I predict this will be huge - absolutely huge. Everyone I know who owns a Wii is planning on getting this. There have already been some AAA titles released on the Wii, but this is going to be the crème de la crème of AAA titles judging by the videos I've seen.

I don't think that Nintendo are being too boastful by saying this will be Mario 64's true successor, it's looking as though it will live up to the title.I don't know why there aren't more threads about Mario Galaxy on this forum... maybe it's because we've had to wait long enough for it to appear (although I've been happy to wait if it means the game isn't rushed and sub-standard), or maybe we're mature enough to avoid the fanboy baiting that inevitably happens ;)

Nintendo seem to be similar to me in the sense that they don't really believe in the hype machine to the same extent as the other console companies/PC games developers.

Take for example the release of the details about the Wii, i only actually heard about the control system from a friend, and at first i didn't believe him - something so utterly unique surely would be hyped to hell and back? Apparently not.

I have known of, and looked forward to mario galaxy for a long time now, due to Nintendos rather timid hype machine i didn't realize it was this close to release and i'm sure many others are the same. When it comes out I'll buy it, the name alone is enough for it to sell, even my grandma knows who mario is. It wont be a preoder-fest, but i bet it will sell huge quantities.

[EDIT] Also, doesn't it just look stunning? Proof that artistic direction > technology
 
I'm in debt and I still haven't bought Halo n Metroid Prime and I need to buy Crysis and Mass Effect, and now this!

Why do all the great games come out at the same time? :(
 
Well I have already made this point in the MP3 thread, but Galaxy may be relatively unseen compared to other big titles because Nintendo isn't prioritizing this kind of game for the console in terms of marketing and hype. Hopefully this will change when the game comes out and the sales reflect that there is still a hardcore Nintendo fanbase. At the moment, they (marketing department) seem to have forgotten us.

But then again; do they really need to hype this one up :p the name alone does all the work!
 
i've lost all interest in the wii due to its controls, although the remote & nunchuck are good for those party type games they tend to ruin the good normal games with these waving controller around on screen actions, its the same with the PS3 sixaxis, its the 1st thing i turn off as its annoying, its a shame that due to the nature of the wii they cannot disable these fancy motion movements for those that don't want to use them.

Why do poeple keep going on about having to "wave" the Wiimote about to play nrmal games, ive been playing Res4, MP3, Mario Strikers etc, all sitting down without much physical movment.

I cant believe Mario is out soooo soon, I thought this was due next year in the first couple of months!
 
god dammit im going to have to buy a Wii now grrr. Thought this was a way off when i would have more money. As stated above so many good games coming out really soon the bank balance is going to take a major hit!

This has been my most anticipated game since I seen it demoed on the Wii back in 2006.
 
The only reason i still have a wii...:o

I can't bare to sell the wii though, i waited in Asda for 10 hours for it! Was going to sell it but then played it and was hooked, shame im not anymore!
