Super Smash Bros, for Wii U and 3DS

This is the first time in two weeks or whatever it is since Splatoon launched that a different disc has graced my Wii U. Saw the leaks yesterday, so got Brawl out this afternoon. Then bam, the moment it the pad went back into the dock, did the advert pop up.

Unfortunately, because the shop was obviously taking a pasting, only had one go with Ryu. I love SF4 so he was a lot a fun to play however. My son, who is already a massive FG fan at 4 years old, cannot wait to play Brawl tomorrow now.

I do feel the DLC is a bit expensive. I paid £25 for Splatoon and the whole bundle for Brawl was £26 (3DS content too). That feels like a lot of cash. Glad you can pick and choose.

I bought the 3DS version on Friday and am returning it this week.
I find it far to difficult to play on such a small machine.

Can I buy the characters online, and then just download them on my Wii U when I turn it on?

But the DLC isn't for Brawl :p

My name is merlin and im hooked on 1v1. :p

Oh I see - yours is overall.

1v1 ticks my boxes as items do my head in :p

I haven't played anything else online other than 1v1. Since I don't like items. I've maybe played a couple of for fun. I'll check.

Edit: Here is my 1v1 records, not much difference.

I have played a lot more 1v1s in rooms with people than For Glory since I prefer the different stages as you can see from my fighter stats.

Last few nights I've constantly been matched against what appears to be Japanese players in 1v1 FG. Some of them stayed for a beating, some ran after first match, some of them were god-like and pretty much handed me my ass on a plate. All good - got to take the rough with the smooth.

Has anyone else found the same - lots of JPN players outa nowhere? Certainly seems to me they've been tinkering with the geography of the matchmaking.

I just bought a Wii U and got this along with it (as well as Mario Kart and Splatoon). Looking forward to giving it a go.

Is it newbie friendly though? I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the Gamecube and I only had a couple of games for that. The Nintendo console I owned before that was the SNES so I'm pretty out of touch with the whole Nintendo thing.

I'm generally quite a hardcore gamer in general but being so new to the world of Nintendo I don't want to be thrashed on every game as that gets a bit boring really. Obviously I'll practice single player first.

This Smash was the first time I ever played Smash in my life - I got in to it pretty quick and I can now hold my own against probably 40% of players out there which aint bad as I'm an old codger well in my 40's.

You'll be fine - the game will know you're new and will only pit you against other newbies.

This and MK8 and Splatoon are all very addictive though - be warned :p

You've probably picked up the most addictive games on the Wii U so you'll be entertained for a very long time.

Smash is a pretty noob friendly game, lots of ways for you to practice and generally just have fun before getting into the more serious side of things. I'm always happy to answer any questions about it too if you have any.

Should arrive in the post tomorrow so I'm pretty excited. I've heard that it takes quite awhile to download all the updates for the Wii U when you first set it up so I'll have to put aside sometime for that tomorrow afternoon.

Cool. Good to know that the match making system takes into account that you are a new player.

Thanks. I'll practice over the weekend in single player and see how I get on. I'll probably post back here with my Nintendo username and hopefully I'll find some people to play against :).

Yeah I did quite a bit of research before picking up these games. They certainly look like the kind of games that I'll enjoy.

Do you guys think it is worth getting the Wii U Pro controller for those games? If it is I'll probably pick one up next month.
