surely if all the internet was controlled on one computer or controlled by one company or regulatory body or whatever, stuff like terrorist networks could/would get around it by setting up a separate network? and then they'd be completely separate from the governed internet, surely that's a bad thing.
Surprised how many people don't know that the internet is still effectively controlled by the US. ICANN is still a government institution in the US, and despite attempts by ICANN and the rest of the world the US are doing their best to remain in control. There's still US congressman trying to control the internet even more by prioritising traffic at their discretion.
I very much doubt IBM are actually proposing that the internet be handed over to their systems at all, it's just a project durther developing distributed, parallel and emergent systems, a field that will expand greatly as time passes.
