The longer I leave Vista booted for, the larger the memory footprint gets. It goes from about 30% usage on day 1 then day 2 it has increased to 57% and day 3 72%. I have 4 gb of ram and do not notice any difference in the speed apps load from day 1 to day 3. I also dont notice any difference in performance of game either, so i dont think I am "losing" the memory, but where is it going? What is using it, is there a way to see what superfetch is upto? See whats loaded into memory? Nothing in processes tell me it using much memory, although sidebar does have two entries, closing one I lose half of my gadgets, so I guess this is normal.

As has been said.
Vista isnt a memory hog, it just does a lot of caching to speed things up for you.
The RAMs there to be used at the end of the day, and Vista uses it.
:)

Mine was doing that too.
Checked Task Manager & found it was Nero Scout :o
Once Nero Scout was turned off the footprint stays at about 700 - 800 MB now ;)

Got a feeling mine may be azureus as this runs constantly. I would like to be able to see what is in the contents of superfetch, because I am sure this is not needed.

Azureus is quite a hog, switch to utorrent.

It could well be memory leaks. I've found the side bar (i do use a lot of gadgets) and az to leak memory quite badly. I reload the sidebar every now and then and switched to utorrent and it's all running much better.
