Need a new PSU, 650W should be plenty for my single card system, and seem to have boiled it down to these two from looking through threads.

Is the Superflower worth the extra £15 over the EVGA?

Thanks.

That is correct. The newer 'G2' units are the same internals as the Superflowers and for all intents and purposes identical except aesthetics. The G1 are the older model and cheaper OEM internals.

The G1's are the newer units not the G2's. You are probably thinking of the NEX***G series which the G1's have replaced. The G1's can't be that bad though for EVGA to give them a 10 year warranty plus they are gold rated. The thing I don't like about them is that they are quad 12v rail units up to and including the 750w version.

what is your system? 6/750 is probably overkill anyway. Unless you're running something heavy like top end AMD cards you could get away with way less.

Even a hungry overclocked kepler card like mine (770) and a sandybridge OC cpu doesnt need more than my 550W superflower gold. Maxwell cards (like most people seem to be running on here) you could probably get away with SLI on 550W....

answer to your question: superflower is a better unit than the FSP EVGA but i have no idea how you tell from the model numbers you'll have to do some research. The short answer is it doesn't really matter and both are good quality gold units and will serve you fine.

Hello All,
just for your info, we recently just launched our 550/650GS units. Those are also Gold certified based on the Seasonic design, quality wise they are as good as the G2 units but are smaller and even more silent. They do as well have the ECO mode to be semi passive and do come with 7y of warranty.

These will be available for preorder as of tomorrow.
