Which is the best superglue to get and which is the original, Bostik or Loctite?
I've got a tube of Tesco superglue, http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=266975423

which I've had for for about 3 months. It's definitely very sticky and hard to get off skin but when I recently glued the plastic handle which fits to the top of my metal cheese grater, it didn't take long before the handle came away again. The glue in the tube now seems to have dried up, so I've binned it.

Do I need a better quality superglue for general small repairs or are they all the same, and which one is recommended? There's Bostik superglue, Loctite, Gorilla, and Evo-Stick Serious superglue.

I tend to use quick cure Araldite (which is epoxy resin-based). £5 from eBay. "Superglue" is very fussy about application and medium.

Epoxy, when done right, might as well be welded on.

This is the last one I bought.

Good if you don't want to have to use g-clamps until cured.

Thanks guys for the links, appreciated.

We do have a winner though by a country mile, as far as price is concerned! :D
Cheers nightglow, I'll get some of that.

Is epoxy resin ONLY for plastics though? That first link from tom-e says Suitable surfaces: Suitable for plastics. Will it not bond properly to wood, metal, etc? My cheese grater is plastic bonding to metal.

Oh, sorry, it says 'Suitable for bonding steel, aluminium and galvanized iron.' So can plastic be bonded too?

Be aware that boggo epoxy tends to cure stiffer than Araldite, so it sort of depends on your application. If it's something that will be vibrating or moving for example, then Araldite might work out better as it tends to be less likely to shear under force.

That said, for less than £2, who cares.

I imagine I'd best wear gloves handling this stuff? In case I weld my fingers together. Superglue is bad enough to get off skin, let alone epoxy
