Hi Guys

Can anyone here tell me, i have heard from various friends that this film is a sequel to Superman 2, apparently they read somewhere that the last superman films are being disregarded......

I haven't seen the superman films in years so does anyone recon that this is true? if so would you recommend watching the first 2 superman films again before i go see this?

TIA

G

I assumed it was a fresh start and completely unrelated to the other films. Much like batman begins was.

Was fairly sure it was a sequel to all the film's, with Kal-El (Superman :p) returning to earth after several years of absence and finding most things changed, Lois having a child/husband etc

Could be wrong though :o

Found it :)

Comments from Bryan Singer and Staff: "He'll begin in his late 20s. He lost his powers in Superman II and now he has the powers back. But something has happened because he's been away for a long time."

"We're taking off from the first two Superman films with Christopher Reeve. We use his history and then move on with big twists and great special effects.

"We're not going to do the origin story again."

Bryan Singer reveals that the movie will feature a return of Superman of some sorts, and not a complete reimagining. He also went on to reveal that there may be references to the Christopher Reeve movies and maybe even scenes from the other movies. "It puts the first films in a kind of vague history. So what it doesn't do is tread over the 1978 Richard Donner film, it doesn't tread over 'Smallville.' It elaborates on the existence of Superman in the world in a history. He's out of the culture and then he returns."

As long as they don't really mess up any of the Smallville stuff, I'll be pretty happy, as in theory it should be a good film, as it's an interesting story.

I hope this have to relations to Smallville, i used to like Smallville but now it's got a mind of its own and destroying the whole Superman university upside down. All the timeline in superman have changed in smallville not to mention characters interactions are messed up.

They have already started to talk about a sequel to superman returns if all goes well.

After seeing trailers I wasnt all that impressed with special effects. I'm more impressed with what they do in smallville in a week to week basis, how they really show his powers working.

I was a bit sceptical of superman returns, as from the first trailers i saw i wasn't convinced by the casting of superman, guess christohper reeve is too burned into my head as my image of superman, but the most recent trailer i've seen looks really good, Spacey looks like he'll be perfect as Lex Luthor, really over the top and evil. With Bryan Singer in charge it should be great, as he's done some great films, and I think x-men went downhill in the third installment, and the difference was Singer didn't direct it.

Be interesting to see how it compares to smallville, which I think has been a bit off form in this current series, but I think its in transition from Clark Kent as a teenager with powers to Clark Kent as superman.

Each to their own. I think it's great.

When is Superman Returns coming to the big screen?

Me too, I though smallville was a very needed addition to the superman series, I dont think they need this tbh.

Smallville rocks, end of.

Negative. It had potential. It's now rubbish; weak storylines, contrived dialogue, laughable villains, rehashed plots and little to no relevance to the original story.
