Supplying your own work tools...

No. In our industry we use tools that can seriously mess people up if they go wrong so my crew are only allowed to use company certified tools for insurance purposes. Even something as innocuous as a screwdriver can get someone electrocuted if not properly insulated or the insulation is damaged. Don't even get me start on what you can achieve with a 4ft breaker bar or stilsons.

And I'm not even mentioning the various power tools and saws we have which could rip a limb off.

some of our tools are **** but we can only use company tools for traceability.

which is laughable as the laser etching has been botched then they moved cabinets from the original factory to a new one then changed the box numbers then duplicated the boxes.

So now nothing is traceable its still **** and everyone continues to use thier own hodgepodge of custom tools

When I did a stint in Brixton Prison (working, not serving :p) we had the worst tools I've ever seen. They were all on a shadowboard so the screws could make sure none had gone wayward at the end of the day and getting a replacement was like drawing blood from a stone at the bottom of the challenger deep using a straw. The flat heads were also chisels, etc. Part of the reason I left. Well, that and prisons are extraordinarily depressing places to work.

And I've just ordered £800 worth of brand new tools for 5 engineers. From £85 torches to £120 adjustable spanners. I must say that CBRE really do look after us. You're Airbus aren't you?
