Hi all,

Am looking for a reasonably basic bit of software or web-based application which will allow the 4 of us in the office to log support calls we receive from our customers.

At it's simplest, it'll be noting down what group/hospital (think company/department) they're calling from, plus their name/phone number/email, and we'll want to select from a list of pre-defined "reasons for call".

Some kind of reporting will be required, so we can say "we've had X calls from Y group" or "X calls from Z hospital".

I've found FreeHelpDesk which is pretty much what we're thinking of, but it only allows one "level" of department, which would make reporting on a Group of "departments" a little difficult, short of selecting each individual and adding the results together! ;)

So, any alternative suggestions, please!? :)

only really used in house stuff in the past so nothing I can recommend other than writing it yourself. would it not be possible to just add your own table of groupings and then report externally using that as well as the data from freehelpdesk, or have I misunderstood the problem with it?

I guess it's the difference between "spend 3 weeks writing something" or "spend 10 minutes installing something" ;)

I could add another table which will have the ID's of each of the "Departments" within each "Group" and use that to generate some reports...

Then I would suggest you do the latter, I wasn't expecting it to be feasible for you to write your own, just that I haven't had experience of any commercial packages
