Support desks asking for passwords - normal?

I've had o2 ask for my password before as well. I had a similar reaction to you.

Thats certainly not normal - usually they seem to ask you if they can reset your password if they want to test something on your web account for you.
 
Seems strange. Official support don't know if theres a error? Why did he not say: Hold on a second, I will go see if I can see whats causing it?
