Well, some of you can remember my thread about me buying a new car.

Well, I have just come into some more money, and I dont have to worry about selling my old car. My mum is buying it, and paying extra to keep the stereo installed

I have always had a hankering for Supra's, to me they just exude class and I have to have one. However, a friend of mine has been trying to convert me to the Wankel way of life. I know our dear friend Drexel has a Rex, but what are other people's opinions on them? I know they are fantastic gas guzzlers, but there has to be more to them than that....right?

So calling all Toyota and Mazda fanboys, let the discussion commence!

The Supra just looks a bit fat and lardy.

But thats the sex about it though! the gorgeous wide arse of it

I think the best course of action would be to look at both and just buy the CAR that you like the best, not the model.

If I knew which one I liked, I wouldn't have to ask this question :p

Buy a UK supra if you can cheaper insurance, leather and decent brakes.

Or go for a US import for a nice fast one ;)

Hate leather seats, but thats just a personal preference :p

Doing a little searching, the supra is fastest to 60 (apparantly).

I prefer the look of the Supra, but I like the eliteness idea of the RX-7

Thanks a lot guys!

Now looking at Pistonheads, some Skylines are in my price range.....thanks a lot guys!

Supra's pah! Ugly, common as muck, boat like and boring. Untill you spend about £5k on them - then they're ugly, common as muck, boat like and boring after a two month honeymoon period with the power.

Thats not what I am wanting to hear!

Easy tiger, I am looking to buy at £8k!

Initially I was looking at the 3000GT, but its a little bit too insanse still, its grp20. Plus the insurance is still a little too high on the Mitsu.

It has to be RWD, ideally sub 7 seconds to 60. Two doors, two seats, dont want to be the "lift giver" for my mates. But still wouldn't mind razzing the prospective missus about ;)

Is saw you car on pistonheads gibbo ;), you inticing me into buying it from you :p

The thing with fast straights, there is a speed limit and I dont want to lose my license. But I want some nice torque, and a nice note too ;) but I dont want to sound like its just the backend box making it growl.

Stop saying the supra is a barge! la-la-la-la not listening!

Alfa? Nah, never been an alfa male ;)

Gibbo, think your 3000GT is too out of my price range, unfortunatly.

Great, because of you numpties its back to either a 3000GT, Supra or RX-7. Bah - I came here wanting the best of a supra or rex, and you blimmin add another one to the mix!

I haven't set in stone with what I am buying, I still have a month or two of working so I can build up the funds to buy the car...what ever she be!

Thanks fox, just what I wanted to hear. Not planning on any bodykits, but probably a nice set of jap alloys, and a new exhaust system.

Think I will go for the UK supra, they are a really gorgeous car. But I won't be buying for about 2 months, but I am keeing an eye out on autotrader/pistonheads and the supra forum for good deals.

I as going to buy my mates GT4 but he sold it, before I could get money togeteher.

If I have a decent car I won't need to feel embarassed about going to motors meets at the dyno station ;)

I am not really looking for a huge top speed, as I would like to keep my license.

Would I be looking at the same price for each?

Also, someone mentioned earlier about engine rebuilds on the rex? Now I am reasonably competant with cars, but that might be a bit ambitious even for me.

What's the driving like on the rex drexel? Is the "cockpit" cramped? as I do some motorway driving and don't want to be cramped. Plus I am 6' 2", would that be a problem in the rex?

Pfft. can't handle a real man's car eh?

Nah, only j/k. You won't be dissapointed in a Supra, great cars
still should've gone for the rex though ;)

Would rather a car that I could fit in ;) as opposed to one that is really cramped.

Plus, the supra still has a mighty fine arse!

The supra does have a nice arse!

I am not bothered by the lack of back seats. I was looking for a 2 seater anyway.

ooh important question, can I get two sets of golf clubs in the back of a supra?
