*** Supreme Commander 2 ***

Looks to me like a dumbed down version of a game that was just taking off and already had quite a few very simple elements in it. Sigh. It will be modded to get the 1000 pop cap back though thats for sure, but i doubt the maps can handle it.

The unit cap was a mistake it's 150 different units the pop cap is still in the hundreds to thousands range :)

However what I would like to see from the sequel is some serious work on game performance as FA could run shockingly slow on even overclocked quad core processors,

well every shell had to have it's flight calculated to see if it hit or misses then splash dmg, because it doesn't use the old system of unit A fires on unit b and automatically hits if it has los and then just play an animation.

So with tens of thousands of rounds being fired every few seconds it was alays going to slow down a a bit :p

anyone know when the single player demo will be released?
No release date for the Demo has been announced yet. There will definitely be a Demo for the 360 version, Dave from Square Enix said, they are targetting for a release one month before the release of the 360 version, so that would be February. A Demo for the PC has not been officially announced yet, but Dave mentioned it in a tweet.

Oh sure, we full appreciated how advanced the game is. But the developers need to work in the confines of what PC's can actually manage. Also the peer to peer LAN hosting system can be a nightmare when it only takes one slower PC to bring everyone else down to the same level.

Things are grim when games like this start getting nerffed for consoles

RTS is a PC platform, requires a mouse to play and several hours per match, Seeing thing like unit capping hit RTS make me :(

All because the eggs box could handle the full whack, this "it enhances gamplay" thing is just rubbish they want PC users to swallow,

Another game down..................Medic

I'm not convinced at the moment. My bro has pre-orderd this, but I've been looking at screenshots and it just looks really dumbed down and styled more for kids, very cartoon like. Like for example, mass deposit looks like it had the letters "Ma" stamped on a metal cover as in, Ma = Mass. We don't need that, we can see the rocks mounted in a pile are metal/mass. Anyway, I'll wait and see what it's like before getting this one. No pre-order from me.

So has no one tried the beta? I hope it's going to be as good as Forged Alliance.

Has no-one here read the interview with Chris Taylor:

The way he says they wanted to focus on 'story' and 'single player' worries me. Actually the early videos worried me as the maps looked like a straight port from DemiGod... they were neither big or open and all they showed was some gimmicky troop launcher.

Recent videos look more promising, but the screens here look poor - I hope it's just console shots or the game on low settings.

GPG was rubbish too - getting 8 players to sync in a lobby and play together was nigh on impossible.

Can't say i agree tbh, would love to have an interesting story in single player mode. Supreme Commander's story was good fun, if perhaps occasionally lacking (Forged alliance could have been better imo :p). I, for one, look forward to an even more interesting development in this coming release. Was why i worried about Square Enix getting their shoe into development :p.. There's no reason that this should compromise anyone's precious multiplayer experience..

?

Aren't Square Enix known for storey driven games?

So why worry?

Yea, I call myself out something of a knee-jerk reaction tbh. What had me "worried" was that a company used to dealing with the likes of Final Fantasy might take the story of the game in a direction that wouldnt suit the style of Supreme Commander.

On reflection, however, it's still a GPG game. So, a more objective opinion should argue that GPG will still be at the helm, with SE's input helping to drive the story-telling rather than the entirity of the game itself..

There isnt a beta. Highly unlikely to release a beta 1 week before the game goes gold.

1 week before gold? It should have been gold last week at latest. The release day is in 7 days (and 10 days for EU). It needs to be shipping to stores in 6 days. Unless of course they pull a last minute delay, but as of now it still shows second of March for release date. Demigod was released before it was ready and one week before the release date the beta felt very incomplete; hopefully it's different with SupCom2.

well i think the single player in forged alliance did need work but fingers crossed the multiplayer side won't suffer for it.
even though i do play the sp side of forged alliance from time to time i stll find the voices damn annoying...
DOSTYA OUT!.....bitch stop screaming at me.
GET IT DONE COMMANDER!.... how about you **** off and do it yourself is what comes to mind everytime i hear it.
if only you could turn sides mid mission/campaign...they certainly didn't make me want to fight for their cause.
multiplayer was where it was for this game but was i the only one who felt there was a shortage of units ? maybe i was spoilt with TA.

ive only seen 1 video of sc2 and i liked that unit launching thing...copied of ra3 bullfrog :p
graphics of the game looked damn ugly though, i would prefer a more realistic gritty metal look...so a tank looks like a real tank and not a cartoon.

I really hope they haven't dumbed this down. I still haven't completed the single player campaign of SC1 owing to going straight into multiplayer and never looking back.. well, until furniture started getting destroyed too regularly..
