Supreme Commander Demo - 5:30pm GMT Today!!!

Mine runs dead smooth at 1920x1200 on full settings.
Seems a good dual core really helps. I've got my my e6600 @ 3.3GHz.

Just playing throught the SP maps, and so far Im finding it boring.

Just seems to be C&C all over again, build base, mass units, attack.

yeah i havent played this since the 1st beta and after 30-40 mins play of this its still dissapointing, although it does look lovely!

Tried to run it under Vista and I get

HEADRAT

I'm playing it under x64 Vista with no problems at all. Performs fine on default video settings at 1280x1024 with my x2 4200, 2GB RAM and x800gto2.

I did a little test in regards to dual core. I disabled dual core support in my BIOS which turns it into an A64 3500 and it dropped my frame rates down to a painful <30fps. With dual core enabled its silky smooth. I think we have our first game that really does need a dual core.

Downloaded it from gamershell, and the zip file was corrupted :(

Oh well, another 30min wait while I download from elsewhere.

Ouch... with the system in my sig I get 20fps (start of the game no units). Running 16x12, noAA, noAF, everything else on high.

Upgrade needed methinks... :(

Time to buy a dual core tbh :)

The game seems to be more cpu intensive than graphics.

Just to update....

My server runs the game fine at 1280x1024 on low settings with a 9600XT in it. Albeit there is also 2 gig of ram and dual xeons @ 3GHz.

Looking in Taskmanager seems to show pretty much just a single core doing everything, perhaps it only uses the further cores when there are more AIs in the game?

Dual core gets used for physics, so bullet projectiles. When you have large battles, the second core gets used quite substantially depending on the situation. I've seen it constantly at 75% before on the sig below.

For reference, i'm getting 40-45fps at start of single player: 1920x1200, 16xAF, 8xTRAA.

In the campaign map I get around 13-20fps at 1280x1024/Max Details/4xAA. The weird thing though is that if I drop to 1024x768/Lowest Details/0xAA I only get like an extra 3fps, wtf
Graphics don't slow this game down. The CPU will, as there are an immense quantity of calculations to make based on projectiles, unit movement, and other world physics.

This is rubbish! My specs are:

A64 3800+
1GB Ram
X800 (with latest drivers)

With the *lowest everything* settings, I get 20fps. And that is when I'm zoomed in on the units, with say a dozen buildings and units combined on screen. Great, I was looking forward to this game and have been for years. I guess I won't be buying it now.

1st Point: The game is MORE graphically intensive when zoomed in.

2nd Point: It really really wants a dual core CPU as its heavily bottlenecked by a single core. The physics and AI calculations for this game are pretty intense.

same, downloaded it twice from gamershell, at about 50-120k/s (normaly get maxed on my 2meg).
downloading it AGAIN from another site now.
