supreme commander installing problems

hi

have finally got hold of Supreme commander (bought from auction site) and am unable to install it. It will install halfway before displaying CPC errors. The disk looks scratch free.

Have done a google but could'nt find any information useful. Has anybody had same problems and managed to fix it.

Would be really grateful for any help. I'm running Vista 64bit if makes any difference.

sounds like a dead disc.

dont know how much you paid, just got "Supreme Commander: Gold Edition" both sub com and forged alliance for only £12.99 new.

disc doesnt have to be scratched to be fubar'd, have a look carefully at the surface any blemishes or missing silver ect (is the surface even silver?).

CPC errors?? i assume you mean CRC errors, they are when the disc cannot be read.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclic_redundancy_check

TBH it sounds like you were sold a lemming.
 
Mate its not the disk at all!! Its the crap tastical game, I had exactly the same problem on my main pc, wouldn't install at all got CRC errors. So I got a mac book pro for when I travelled, I put the disk in and amazingly it installed!!! I have no clue what is up with the install process it is just fubared and I hope you have patience as this buggyness runs through out the game, especially when patching (hope your bald as you won't have any hair left after trying to patch the damn thing).

Now it was sometime ago that I tried to install this but I either just kept persisting with installing it or copied the folder over from my Laptop. If you do get the game installed and it won't patch which is what happens on my main system then all i do is update my laptop (which will patch go figure) and then copy the folder over. Its a right nightmare tbh, this also happens for FA :mad:

Many thanks for all replies; have contacted seller and he has kindly offered to refund my money upon returning it.
 
Weird, mine worked alright. As said get the Gold Edition and then install Forged Alliance

Don't even bother with the original unless you want to play the single player campaign, FA is better in every single way!
