as title, just installed it again after a few months, after what seemed to happen 50 times (updating GPG net and SC)

it now doesnt load, just says *please check your video card meets requirements etc etc* errors and quits

using 8800GTX and vista64bit

any ideas?

A bit off topic perhaps sorry but I'm getting the same problem in XP with C&C generals .
Any idea's?

Combat squirrel, have you tried it with older drivers or on another OS?
Odd tbh :(.

similar thing happened to me recently with supreme commander and latest NVIDIA drivers, reinstalled 163.69 drivers and it worked fine

Would the thing work on Generals too you think gashman?
Atm I'm on the, errr bioshock optimized drivers I believe.
No way a 6800GS aint good enough for generals lol.

i dunno, just a problem i had with the crysis optimised drivers and 8800GTS, a 6800 should play generals without a problem, did it stop working when you updated drivers?

I can't recall as it's been months since I ran generals, all I know it worked on this xp install and this graphics card before, I did change cpu and mainboard tho in meantime ( now on a core 2 duo E6400 @ 3.2ghz... ).
I've prolly updated gfx drivers over 5 times since I last played it.
Other games are fine, including supcom and crysis beta.

Had this happen to me a couple of times, however it only happens when I have dual monitor enabled in the game and only 1 enabled in windows.

I think a certain file needs to be deleted. I remember faintly having the same problem. Look on the SupCom forums if you haven't already.

Edit
For Windows XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Gas Powered Games\SupremeCommander\Game.prefs

This directory may be hidden by default. To unhide system directories for Windows XP, open a folder and click Tools > Folder Options > View > Uncheck "show hidden files and folders" and then press "Apply to All Folders."

For Windows Vista:

Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\SupremeCommander

The location may be different, depending on your specific machine configuration. Some users have reported success with deleting just the .prefs file, while others delete the entire directory contents for best results.

Do not mistake the /GasPowered directory for the correct one listed above. The /GasPowered directory is an old, unused directory, and while deleting it won't harm the game, it is not the correct, current file in use by Supreme Commander.

The above didn't work for me, but it can still be ran in "safe mode".
This can be accessed through the start menu or adding the following switch in the command line after ".exe" in the target field in the properties tab:

/windowed 1024 768 (you can change the res to anything you like and it will run).

Safe mode just starts up Supcom in a window, which you can maximise to fill up most of the screen (still have the window header).

Have you got a anti-virus installed? Crazy as this sounds my mate the other day had a very similar problem, turned out it was his anti-virus/firewall or something.

I had this exact same problem 3 days ago, i worked it out. Reinstalled the game, got the Patch for SupCom manually from their site.
Then to sort the problem where GPGnet failed to load and patched, i figured out that my anti Virus was blocking it, im using NOD32. I went into IMON and included the .exe into the exclusions part.

Sorted :)

Also make sure you have the port forwarding on 6112 and 30350-30351. Thats what i have.
Manually delete everything after you uninstall, seems to leave a few things over.
