Supreme commander open Beta

I couldnt get the key. But in the end it doesn't bother me since the uni blocks outgoing connections for games, leaving me with only options to play SP / LAN games. So I'm using the hack.

Really doesn't run smooth enough on my rig for me, which is disapointing.
@ Concorde, pretty sure it has been said that this game is multithreaded so fully uses dual cores :)

Is there anywhere to download the client other than Fileplanet?

I've got the key no problem, but waiting in line for half an hour, then downloading at 40kbps isn't my idea of fun. Especially considering I should be getting closer to 800kbps on this line.

Just finished a game and I quite enjoyed it, seemed to run fine and lag free on my system (A64 3500, 2GB ram, 7600GT). Looks like the sort of game where you are going to get really long (2+ hours) matches which is a nice change from very short games like DOW, WC3 and COH. I love the way the map work, although I really wish I had a larger screen as the interface is massive and didn’t seem to leave much room for the actual gameplay. Once this comes out I will be seriously tempted to get a second screen and use the dual screen mode.

Err even the free servers should max out your line easy.. i waited 30 mins yesterday in queue and got the file in 10 minutes..

My download was nice and quick from fileplanet. For once....

Weird how mine runs so slowly..... What res were you running in Cronox?

1280x1024, I haven’t played with any of the other settings but just had a quick look and most of them seem to be set to mid or high with no AA.

Finished a big game earlier, good fun. Biggest problem so far has been finding a good game (no lag) and when someone quits the CPU players are terrible, making any 2v2 game very hard.

The replay feature is great though!

Is the game good then? Doesn't seem to be anyone online at the moment... and the GPGNet client seems really awful.

I quite liked the game itself, much like TA the resource system is fairly basic allowing you to spend most of your time focusing on your units. I also didn't like the GPGNet thing very much, because it wasn't in game it seemed to take ages to go from trying to join a game to actually getting into it.

Been playing around in sandbox... love the nukes!

It runs smooth as silk on my setup, only 17in TFT so 1280x1024, but everything is maxed out.

C2D E6600, 2GB DDR2, X1950XTX 650/2000.

It would seem from this thread that dual core really really helps.

Barely playable for me, first half hour is fine until the AI spams units.

I havn't managed to finish a game yet because I just got fed up with a slideshow.

game runs fine for most ASLONG as there isnt AI playing as it lags the host to hell and back and thus everyone connected
