Supreme commander open Beta

wow is all i have to say im a big ta fan although i only play skrimish mode :P

damn sp is amazing just got .38 beta from file planet and applied a magical skirmish crack. it seems to really capture the feel of ta and slow my system down a bit :P btw i got raped by a easy ai guy on the small green map :)

kinda felt like i was in a time warp since all the basic ta stuff still applies cept with class graphics :D

my only complaint is the size of the interface its literally half the ******* screen lol :P

I'm up for a game, especially if the game happens to be tonight... bear in mind I haven't played this game for more than about five minutes so go easy on me :)

don't think so, GPG now have zero tolerance for people using cracked versions of the beta and retain the right to revoke your beta access

Where can I get guides to this game? I haven't a clue what anything does in the game...I know that you have to build power generators to keep making energy because if you dont, you can't build anything...but is there a relationship between mass and energy as well? I have no idea what the little icons mean when you hover over a unit to potentially build, and there's a load of other things I don't know about.

There's two resources in the game. Energy and mass. You build power plants for energy, and mass extractors for mass. The extractors go on top of the various locations marked on your map. You can upgrade your mass extractors as your tech develops, and you can build better power plants. A handy trick as well to generate more mass (you'll most likely always be short of this, I always am anyway) is build mass fabricators. These create mass out of energy. For instance your tech 3 power plant produces 2500 power, a tech 3 fabricator will convert 1500 of that into mass, about 24 I think.

The resourcing in this game is very simple, so as not to hinder actual strategy and tactics, but it is important. Even a highly skilled player will struggle to beat a novice if he has far superior resources. So look to build a good economy straight away.

Does building power/mass buildings next to others reduce their cost or something?? I`m noticing that people usually do that and the orange lines appear linking the structures.

If you have several power generators next to a land factory (for example), everything you build from that land factory will use less energy during the construction process.

if you put power storage next to power gens their output goes up,
same with mass storage and mass fabs

if you put mass fabs next to factorys they use less mass too.

After reading around, everyone with the 'it gets jumpy as after 10mins issue' are either running Audigy Soundcards (known issue, and easily sorted)

OR (even more worryingly)

ANYONE running S939 AMD systems with NF4 chipsets

Gahh I applied the skirmish crack and now whenever I load the game I get a black screen... though FRAPS tells me thee game isn't frozen... it's just dark.

Thanks :)
What in the game depends on mass, and what depends on energy? I know I can't build if energy is low, but if mass is low, what happens?
Is it possible for the extractors to run out of mass.
