Got some money and i'm thinking of buying it today...

Just wanted to know what people's thoughts are on the game, whether it's worth the money. * I think it's only £20 now anyway... *

System can handle it fine ( 8800GT , Q6600 )

You can pick up both Sup Comm and Forged Alliance for about £17-20 online which is well worth it - although it would probably be best to play through sup comm a bit before embarking on FA - the gameplay dynamics are a tad different, but you soon adjust!

Well, I haven't yet, even though ive played through half the campaign on normall in skrimish a easy ai still pwns me :p. In original I could easely just beat the toughest ai's, but here, and easy ai rushes me, and completly pwns me.
 
Thing I never got about Sup Com is is there advantage to higher ground? say on a cliff looking down can the units see/fire further?
 
They said in videos before sup com came out if cannons such as T2 arty are on higher group they will deal more damage. Overall i don't think it makes much of a difference.

Should get SC + FA seen it for £20 in Game yesterday its a very very good game and the way things work change a bit between SC and FA. It doesn't matter how fast your system is for playing online though which is kinda crap it will run as fast as the slowest pc in the match.
 
Haven't noticed that to be honest but have been annoyed several times by missile launchers getting onto higher ground and me not being able to fire at them.

Great games by the way, definitely worth getting.

Also, I noticed something on these forums a while ago about enabling multi-core support in Windows. It involves downloading a patch for Windows and then modifying the boot.ini file I think.

Someone else who remembers it better will probably be able to point you in the right direction but it did give me a 10%ish boost in performance so could be worth trying.
 
I bought this for £2.50 brand new in a supermarket, played it for 5 mins, but got bored fast. Probably a good game but other games dragged me away from it :(
 
the one thing that really annoys me, is that in this distant future, infinate technology, and units cant use a simple 'line of sight' properly??

i mean ffs, you send your units off to fight, only to realise theyre firing laser beams at the ground right in front of them, while balistic shots hit them.

youd think theyd make the game so that LOS units like the cybran tanks would only fire once they can actually SEE the enemy.

other than that, the game is awesome, one of the best RTS games ive ever played

Local shop was stopping selling pc games. i bought about 4 games (battlefield 2, sup com, stronghold 2, godfather) for 2.50 each...

only thing that i foolishly missed was there was a flightsim 2007 for 2.50, and im sure that game is worth a lot of money.

i bought em with intent to sell, but i think supcom was the only good game worth anything. so i just lost a tenner. nevermind lol

From the games we've played so far the AI has gotta be different to before because as you say even the 'easy' ones do still offer a good challenge and on land based maps i've lost to easy AIs a number of times.

Don't even get me started on the AIx !!! :p

Good addition to the series though FA, well worth getting hold of - the new UI for one is just sooo much better than the old standard one that hogged most of your screen ...
 
I bought my new PC just to play this game. I love it. IMHO, Supcomm + FA is the best RTS game around. I just seem to have more fun with this than all the others. More evil laughs as well! Top game at any price.
 
I have yet to actually see the new Megalith that the Cybran get in action! My mate was just about to finish building one when we managed to overcome his defenses and destroy it.

It seems like a counter to the fatboy - although it doesn't have as big a range which is interesting.

However the Seraphim exp robot is pretty tough and powerful if you get caught out up-close! It tore through a fatboy in seconds :(
