It should be pretty good for music and films etc. It's not a full X-Fi chip though; it's X-Fi in brand name only. It doesn't have the full version of CMSS-3D or EAX5. Additionally you can't get the upgrade that allows you to encode Dolby Digital and DTS over optical that you can with a full x-fi. DVDs should still work for 5.1 over optical though, as they're pre-encoded.
Capability wise it's about on par with an X-Fi Xtreme Audio. It is better than the rubbish you normally get as onboard audio.
