Surely Far Cry 2 is worth trying for £1

It's not THAT bad. It does get boring and I have posted bad things about it but I am glad I stuck with it and finished it. If you play it for a couple of hours you will love it but then your thoughts will start to turn from "when is it really going to start?" to "is this it?" There really isn't much to see after a short while. The huge map is wasted really. Playing GTA4 recently has reminded me how varied missions can be compared to the 2 mission types on far-cry 2 which are: 1: Kill someone whose location in shown on your map in realtime. 2: blow up/destroy something.

The most annoying thing about FC2 is that, with a few small tweaks here and there, it could have been a FPS classic.

I didn't have a problem with gun degradation - had fully upgraded gun.

Malaria should have been kept to just one mission... it really doesn't add anything extra to the atmosphere after a short period and instead becomes ultra annoying - only needed help a few times .

The game should buffer the last 4-5 check points and not repopulate them while they are still in the buffer.

Missions should flow more to move you around the map rather than one mission being the other side of the map to the next one or requring you to cross the same ground 3-4 times in the same mission. Buses helped.

More of the side missions should have been linked into their own arcs so you could explorer a bit along a theme.

even though this game is not the best it has fantastci graphics if you have the setup,i also enjoyed completing it and playing many hours into the early hours of the morning on multiplayer...its not that bad

I can never understand why FC2 gets such a slating on forums, I expect the same crowd think all COD games are absolutely fantastic & amazing & nothing can compare.
In reality FC2 is a good game & completely different to anything else around.
Lots of fun to be had

its worth 1 £ just to look ad nice visuals but i played for approx 3 hours and deleted it.

would be playable if enemy would spawn again and again

No Call of Duty 4 sucks balls and so does Far Cry 2.

It's not fun, it has a weak story, the gameplay is pants and it's repetitive as hell.

very few if you use the bus & 90% of players who moan seemed not to have noticed that there is also a bus station right in the centre of each map in the main town on which makes travel to all four corners easy

Tbh he's right imo, farcry 2 was rubbish, cod4 is good but nowhere near as good as it seems to be getting the reputation for (by that i mean things such as a certain high-street retailer nominating the best game ever made).

Before you ask me to justify my own tastes, Half Life 1+2, Call of Duty 1+UO, Killzone 2 and Unreal are shooters i would class as very good.

No ones getting hounded as far as I can see but it works both ways - if someone says they thought FC2 was good are they being hounded if others say it's pants ?

I haven't seen anyone who dislikes FC2 asking those that do to list other games they like. We just accept that everyones' tastes are different and leave it be, yet you ask him to list what he thinks are good games in order for his opinion to be valid. That's what i view as the hounding part; the fact he's having to justify his opinion on something that is completely subjective.
