I was swimming off some secluded beach in Hawaii in 2013 and ended up around 100m or so out. No sharks, but every time I seen a big rock below the surface my heart sank.It happened so much I had to get out of the water. lol.

Turns out there were no shark nets there either - if I'd known that I wouldn't have even dipped a toe in. Don't typically get great whites over there but I'm sure there are sharks 15ft-18ft in those waters.

So scary!!

A photo i took last week in the Azores. It was about 2 meters away at that point and came in to about 50cm away.

Sleep well! ;)[/QUOTE]

Fantastic!

I personally love the sea - that's a great picture :)

But that's because more people live in areas with malaria than in shallow water, so it's an unfair comparison.

Quite possibly, but doesn't that also mean that you're more likely to be in a place where malaria is present? Either way, percentage chance of dying from malaria is higher.

Personally, I'm a fan of sharks. They're cool creatures. Kinda like the Steven Seagal of the sea-world, but with more emotion.

go to Fiji next time, you can see hundreds of them on a single dive

was planning to be on holiday there now if it wasn't for a recent health issue

Fascinating creatures. I am not a big fan of he sea (being in it) but love everything about it.

However if I do go into the sea I much prefer to be floating in it than touching the sea bed. Weird I know.

There can be some terribly dangerous things on the sea bed in shallow water.

You are twice as likely to die form a vending machine than a shark. Think about that next time you go for a can of coke.
