Surprised at trade in values of games

best example i ever saw was with a major game retailer, selling new for 49.99 and pre-owned for 44:99 big local supermarket selling same title for 39.99 :) no brainer

this is why am buying more and more of my games from the net as i cant see the point in handing over that extra tenner on the high street when i can get it delivered to my door for free and at cheaper prices

best thing i can recommend is to get a monthly rental deal :)

i get 3 games at a time, as long as i want can change as often as i want for 15 quid a month :)

I must admit I'm somewhat suprised at the number of highstreet chains that do pre-owned games now. In the mid90s when I used to play a lot of Megadrive games there was a local independent store which had quite a wide range of secondhand games, and it was pretty much the only place in the city which did trade-ins.

I think maybe their downfall was that they would sometimes buy games which probably very few people would want to buy - for example I remember trading in NHL'95 along with some others for NHL'96. The chances of them shifting an out-of-date EA Sports title are probably fairly low, even at discount prices.

I always figured it would be too much hassle for the major outlets to get involved in the secondhand market, but I suppose the gaming industry has grown considerable over the last decade and with more people buying games there's obviously more being sold as well.

mm i know how ppl feel i just been stiched due to my own fault > i told my brother while he was in town to get hold of G.R.A.W from blockbusters they had it for 25 quid i thought it was new but when he came home found out it was used cheezz i found it on line for 17.99 new delivered fsake.

still got a good mind to take it back and tell em to shove it.

Try Blockbusters, we are usually pretty decent for 360 stuff, but any other console and youve had it! I can tell you not GoW should give £15 at least alone.

£15 for GoW? That's pathetic! No wonder I never trade my games in, you get such a crap deal.

I could get at least £25 for it on the Bay.

the chain i use give reasonable prices IMO

i traded in 4 PSP games and 2 DS games and managed to get 5 DS games, which to me is a good deal, i think i had to put £2 too, and the games i traded in werent exactly new but the ones i got were :p

Well more disappointed really. I have never traded in games before, have usually ended up selling them to friends/family, but thought I would give it a go this afternoon.

I ended up in our local independant games shop first thinking I would get the most money for my 360 collection...boy was I wrong!
£6.50 for GOW Ltd edition!!! I LOL'd at him.
yeah and then they will put it back on the shelf for a tenner under the new price, total ripoff

When I was trying to scrape together money to buy a N64 I decided to sell my SNES and Megadrive, there was close to a hundred games in total.

Only place I could find that showed an interest would only offer me £200 for the lot!

One of my family members used to do boot faires, so I tagged along 1 weekend and made over £400 and I didn't even sell everything I had with me.
Still wish to this day I hadn't done it though, I miss those old consoles.

I tried trading in Daikatana (PC) at one place, they refused it, so i threw it behind them and legged it! :D (This may be a ficticious encounter)

Anyhoo, that game is godawful, haha. :p

Off topic a bit, but please bear with me... and never stop bearing with me.

I've never traded a game, too much of a hoarder... still got a Speccy 48k tape of Attic Attack somewhere!

Rarely trade in games, last one was Tiger Woods 06 as I got £20 trade in when 07 came out, way more than I would have got on ebay.

Just sell things on ebay when I need shot of them.
