Hi,
I've just bought a Panasonic TH42PX70 and I want to have a nice surround sound setup to go with it. Basically I really don't know what I'm doing with this so if someone could help and explain a few bits then that'd be great.

What do I need for the surround sound kit?

Is it worth buying seperate speakers or would they come as part of a kit?

What do these AV recievers I've seen do?

I apologise for all the questions but I just want someone to explain how it all works in simple terms for me :)

Regards,

Adam

How much are you thinking of spending?

That will choose a few things for you like seperates or HTIB.

Not fussed really, open to suggestions.

Very difficult to suggest otherwise,

AV receiver + separates is best if you can afford it. You get best of flexibility and sound quality.

A good AV receiver will also act as an hub for all video connections as well.

How much do you have to spend?

A few years back I went for one of those 'all in one box' a Sony DAVS550 which at the time got numerous reviews by What HIFI etc, but as the years progressed it became a bit lacking, so went down the seperate option. A 5.1 Cambridge Audio amp Azur 540R and a Mordaunt Genie speaker package. In all including speaker cables etc came to £850. It is perfect for the cinema setup and packs amazing bass.
