Is there not a set of 5 B&W M1's in the MM on here too? I'm sure I saw them the other day. They looked cheap enough (circa £200 IIRC) although needed collected. I used an M1 as a centre speaker for a while until I got a hold of a HTM61 and 62. It worked great, and I still have it. Could actually do with another one to get a matching pair.
At the very least they would be a cracking set of speaker to start out with. And are very unobtrusive, so lend themselves to being placed wherever you find is best for them, due to their small size. And as time moves on, you can upgrade the fronts, then the centre, and they would still make cracking rears. I went for 685's up front and 686's for the rears personally, but then you are closer to £300+ per pair at that size. But certainly for starting out, they would be great.
