Suspended HD's

If you do it properly, they are completely safe. Fair enough,if I was moving the computer by car or something, I might secure them a bit more, but for moving the computer around the house etc, they are secure. If you decide to do it though, make sure you use something like bungee cord or sewing elastic, rather than something purely rubber as this is much less likely to get brittle and snap with heat.

I have my drives suspended and i managed to add on some more sewing elastic to wrap around the open ends of the hard drives to hold them in place so that they can't fall out. I even tested it by tipping up the case and it was absolutely fine.

They really do help on the noise front. I have a P150 that comes with suspension mounting as standard. When they snapped a few weeks ago ( ) I had to stick the HDD's on rubber grommits instead and the noise has dramatically increased.
