SUV crossover recommendations

Also just spotted Discovery Sports are available for £27K for low mileage models, which is actually a pretty well reviewed option.

Out of interest do any of those have a low range gearbox?

I assume not?

I assume you're looking at pretty much exclusively the Cherokee/wrangler (the latter not really in the same category) as I'm guessing even the discovery sport doesn't have it as it's just a new freelander?

I'm thinking of getting an SUV type vehicle.

I don't really want a diesel since I'm concerned about future tax and resale value. I need an automatic too.

It just seems like we don't get good petrol engines in the UK.

US Rav 4 gets a 2.5l petrol, we only get 2.0l
US Nissan xtrail gets 2.0l petrol, we only get diesel 1.6.

I like the look of the Qashqai , but the engines are Renault and seem under powered. 1.2 petrol...

Mazda CX5 looks good too, but only diesel.

Audi Q3 would be great, but it would have to be used since a bit out of my budget.

What do people rekon is a decent SUV? Around £20 to £25k?

New 3008SUV? ... not that I'm biased because I drive one.. 1.6BlueHDi 120bhp (300Nm) Allure with LED lights and electronic leather seats. I didn't opt for the pana roof.

The dash is standard to the range..

Front seat drops forward too, and the boot floor has two positions.

LED light option £850 on allure/active models.. but you get the better (in my opinion) bumper too as well as the LED headlights, indicators etc.

In reality it's more CAR-suv rather than SUV-car. It has a higher ride height. My 1.6D is 120bhp and 300Nm torque, gets high mpg 45mpg around town and 69+ on the motorways and manages to cope with a full set of passengers and luggage. It weighs less than the 2006 MkII focus 1.8TDCI it replaced.

It is 2WD. You can get traction control etc.. but there's no AWD option.

If looking at 3008 and have a preference for petrol may want to consider the Puretech 130 engine. My wife's car (308sw) has one although with the boot completely full with suitcases and bottles after a visit to a Cyder farm on holiday it wasn't great at accelerating up a hill (to be fair it has a bigger boot than 3008 so probably carrying more weight). I definitely wouldn't get the 110hp model.
