svchost.exe maxing out the memory

As title, I have to end the process and it turns out it must be something to do with the audio driver as once the process is ended I dont get any sound.

Anyway I can fix it or will I have to reinstall windows?

I take this is on XP? I had a similar problem on XP recently.

Try turning off windows automatic updates. See if this helps
