so let me get this straight Jazz from what others have put on here as well as yerself

Yer parents are indian

You were born and live in England

India dont have a good national side so you dont support them

England however do have a decent national side and play in most the major tourneys Therefore in all seriousness you would think that you would support England as well it is yer home and you are English.

But no you support Brazil ? :confused:

this to me seems very wrong and very strange.

Robert in a certain respect you are correct I have no problem whatever in what club side anyone supports however when it is your national side it is a completely different ball game.

Jazz my friend, have a look at your passport, I bet it doesn't say Nationality: Indian (or Brazilian;)), more likely Nationality: British Citizen. Therefore you're either English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish. Take your pick:D
 
I think some of you people are missing i dont regard myself as english, I am indian, sikh or whatever. Being born here i was bought up as an indian, u could say i have a indian/english lifestyle. Ive never been regarded by anyone as english but it seems some of u lot think i am :confused: You could say i was never regarded as english by anyone that is why i call myself indian but tbh im happy being called indian

sunama i see what ur saying but if i went to a hundred english people and said am i english or indian how many do u think would say english, very little would, i think many people are against "foreign" players in their team

wohoo 99% asian i know doesnt support england in footy or cricket maybe the ones u know do i dunno

Ive never said im not proud of being born in england, ive never said the "white man" dont like me, do u know how much racism still exists, the numbers are increasing not decreasing but ive used that as an excuse to hold a grudge against anyone and i get along fine with most people and dont care what colour they are.

All im saying is 90% of people "english people" dont regard me as english/british. I think your kinda accusing me of things i havent said mate, i think you definitiion of being asian is different to mine, i think a growing trend these days ive noticed is many asians these days seem to have forgot where their roots lie and some dont really appreciate it :(

memphisto, its ok to support a team which is not based in the city of ur birth or where u live but its forbidden to support a country where u wasnt born? Sounds like ur bending the rules mate :p

In all major tournaments i support i support brazil coz india are not in the tournament and their team is pretty much non existant no one in india gives a damn about footy

When I was a little kid my cousin said who do u support, i said no one, he said u should support brazil and i have stuck with them ever since. I dont really give a **** if u wanna call me a glory hunter lol

I think some of u people are overreacting to what ive said

My definition of an Asian would be someone that comes from Asia.

If my parents had moved to Australia, or America, or Belgium or anywhere that wasn't England, and I was born a year later and brought up in that place, and lived there all my life, when I got to late teens-early twenties I certainly would NOT be calling myself English!

I think the growing trend is segregation caused by the Asians born here that don't recognise that. It's a shame, because both parts of society have so much to offer each other, yet the Asians don't want to join in with society, they want their own societies and want their own communities.

This is bringing down the entire country, and the sooner these people begin to realise they're English the better IMO.
 
Ok then ill call myself an english asain lol. I do join in with the society and dont think ive been a negative influence on the society

When i call myself indian im not ignoring that im born and bred in england if that is what ur thinking :)

I'm not talking about individuals and I'm not having a go at you on personal levels at all, but the Indian/Asian minority groups round here segregate themselves completely and I hate that.

Same in Sheff too. Odd particularly since they're the majority in many areas.

lets not forget some "english" communities also will not accept asians into their community, in schools this was very evident where they simply didnt want to talk to u coz u were indian and u could say it leaves a bitter taste in some peoples mouth and maybe that is why they dont socialise when they are older

one thing ive noticed is that british asians (indians/pakistanis/bangladeshis/china etc) tend not be be referred to as english i do realise that. however, black people tend to adopt the country more readily where they were born. eg. no one says that sol campbell or linford christie is african. they speak like men who have been baught up in england and that is how they are referred to. similarly in the usa, the likes of carl lewis or tiger woods would never say that they are from africa (lewis) or malaysia/africa (woods - i think he is mixed race). these guys quite openly are refferred to as american. however, when it comes down to asians, society refers to them first as asians, not as british/english or american.

just an observation.

so perhaps we all as a society have to learn not to group people in this way.

personally i believe that you are FROM wherever you were born/braught up. however, your ORIGINS may lie from whereever your forefathers were born/braught up. of course, things can get very tricky when u originate from one country, are born in another country and are baught up in another country. :)
 
i could be classed as many things if i looked at my fore father etc, parents originally from pak(moved here when they were v.young), grandparents indian, i actually have oriental from somewhere in the line too, then i may screw my kids furthure if stay with my pres g/f and have kids with her, whe is english/white!!!

Nah tho lads, dunno where u guys are from but i have noticed say if i go to a place like bradford or summat, white folks do treat u like a typical asian bad boy or summink, cos the idiots around there, but i tend to spend a fair bit of time around the country, and i can honestly say i aint ever seen racism directly, i have always been seen as one of them!!!if u know what i mean, dunno maybe its the way i carry myself i dunno,

i do agree there, but it is because black people have been here longer than asians etc, but things are changing for the better(although the current asylum mess aint helping)

Who would have thought a `****` would be in charge of the english cricket team, and curry would be the national dish imo that something to be proud off and shows what can acheive being british and not looking back at our fore father etc
 
ok jazz I understand now a bit more however,

yes it in my view is wrong to support a national sign other than yer own over yer own.

maybe thats just me being overly patriotic but thats the way I see it.

I live in Middlesbrough which is a very multicultural society I have many friends who are asian etc etc I go to the pub with them and they are all as patriotic about the english football team as I am therefore I just find your, I support Brazil a bit strange, weird and basically a new one on me.

However I did pick up on something in yer original posts that I still find odd. If you recognise yersefl as english (as a second nationaltiy at least) behind indian why do you refer to us as

U ?

that to me is already showing segregation between yerself and the english. I know this is in terms of football but although I dont support Arsenal (as you know :p ) I refer to them as Arse or Arsenal or whatever but not

U ?

I think i am probably digging into something that isnt really there however I do find it odd that you would refer to us as U ?

anyway I'm probably like I say reading far too much into it but I picked upon this earlier but never posted about it long before I even found out you were indian and supported Brazil. Since the conversation has changed dramatically I in the first instance found it a tad odd however now it seems to me to be more significant.


either that or I am a babling fool !
