swapping data to a new larger drive?

My PC has a 500GB hard drive installed with lots of games installed, I am running out of space though and I dont really fancy formatting and starting all over again

Is there some easy way I can transfer all my data over to my new hard drive and plug it in and it wil just run as normal ?

yes there are various free hard disk cloning utilities.

Clone it. Have a look at Macrium Reflect.

+1 Macrium Reflect then use Windows disk management to expand the volume.

You can do it natively through windows. Create a RAID 1 array and then wait for it to sync, break it and expand to fill the drive

I always prefer native Windows tools...

Disadvantage: your disk turns into dynamic from basic.
