Just received a Samsung Galaxy S 2 (very nice bit of kit) to replace an iPhone 3GS on an o2 Simplicity tariff.

Apart from swapping the sim over, is there anything else I need to do (register the phone with o2 etc)?

Receiving txts, can make/receive calls on it, but there is an o2 app which is puts on the phone which gives me the options to "Get settings", but this fails with a unable to retrieve settings, contact customer services type of message.

Thanks in advance.

Depends where you got the phone from really. You need the right internet settings (known as an "APN") so you can use 3G internet. If you don't have these already you can either set them yourself in settings > network > mobile network or you can phone up o2 who will send your phone a special command with all the settings in it for you.

You don't need to do anything else though, can keep using the same SIM etc...
