Hey all,

I have a bit of a problem, when I'm gaming, and often when doing other tasks (photoshop etc) I find that the mouse (Razer Mamba) tends to skip or freeze, the cause being little patches of sweat (not puddles!) on my icemat.

The edge of my thumb and pinky touch the mat and any time they rest there's a tiny patch of sweat which my Mamba refuses to track through. My icemat is dark blue, and I wondered if changing it to a black one would help? Or am I better off going for textile/cloth mat which would absorb the patches?

I did have a search for this and am a little surprised no one else has the same trouble. I'm not dripping sweat or anything like that but its enough to interrupt my work-flow or gaming time!

Never had this problem with my lovely MX Revolution, shame they kept breaking (went through 5 in as many months)

Thanks in advance!

Try a different brand of mat, with a slightly different fabric. Or one of those solid ones, I would imagine they would be less susceptible to sweat.

Perhaps turn the heat down in the room? I sometimes find my hands getting a little clammy but really not much at all, certainly not enough to stop a mouse tracking properly.

You might want to look at getting a mat like I have here - the Boogiebug aimpad xl I think is the name. Was cheap, and tracks well with my deathadder.

Thanks for the suggestion, if the heat was any lower I think I'd have hypothermia! I'm huddled up to my PC as it is for warmth.

I was just wondering whether the colour of the surface matters? I think i'll probably invest in a cheapish textile mouse mat, and see if it helps, then maybe spend some more wonga on a proper one. I do love my icemat though :(

My hands tend to sweat a bit as well even if I'm cold and the room is cold and I had a similar issue. Switched to a Razer Mantis ratpad and it is fantastic. Can't remember where I bought it from, OCUK don't seem to stock, but think it was about £14 a few years ago.

I use the eXactMat, it's basically a giant slab of metal with 2 sides on it, one for speed and the other for control. I swear by this thing to be fair, just make sure you keep it in good condition, the control side is susceptible to crumbs and what not getting stuck on it, which then scratches the mouse and is rather off putting, so just be aware of that (a good wipe over with a dry cloth sorts it out nicely).

Unless I have some sort of dermatitis I'm not sure what's going on! Like I said, my previous MX Revolution never had a problem, maybe that's due to the thumb rest though? I'll probably end up with the eXactmat (and possible some driclor!) Really thought this would be more common!
